Seattle show opens with record attendance

SEATTLE, Wash. – With a Saturday attendance of 14,143 people, organizers of the Seattle Boat Show say they set the record for the highest single-day attendance of the five-year-old event.

Show organizer Michael Campbell said the event is off to its fastest start ever with record attendance over the fist three days combined. Attendance at Chandler’s Cove on Lake Union, the event’s on-water venue is nearly double what it was last year, according to Campbell.

Based at the Seahawks Exhibition Center, the show is said to be the largest on the West Coast, featuring 1,200 recreational watercraft. It runs through January 25, 2004, and is highlighted by a new active water sport retail area, a marine electronics expo, and the popular exhibit: “Discover Northwest Fishing Center, presented by Suzuki.”
