C. Raymond Hunt Associates to design new Wellcraft line

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Wellcraft Marine Corp., a subsidiary of Genmar Holdings, Inc., has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with naval architect C. Raymond Hunt Associates, Inc. to design a line of inboard gas and diesel-powered sport fisherman boats, the company reported in a statement today.

“A C. Raymond Hunt hull will perform, and is a name recognized and respected throughout the marine industry,” stated Wellcraft President Dean Samuelson.

Work on preliminary designs will begin immediately with product availability expected by the end of 2004, Genmar stated.

The company believes the partnership will result in “an inboard sport fishing series unlike anything currently available” that will allow it to become “a force in the inboard sport fishing market.”

Founded by C. Ray Hunt, creator of the high-deadrise, deep-vee hull, C. Raymond Hunt Associates designs are in service around the world in recreational, commercial and military use, according to Genmar. Numerous marine manufacturers build or have built C. Raymond Hunt designs.

Founded in 1955, Wellcraft Marine, which focuses on fiberglass offshore family fishing boats ranging from 18 to 39 feet, has manufactured more than 100,000 fishing boats.
