Buckley to speak at National Marina and Boatyard Conference

WASHINGTON, D.C. – George Buckley of Brunswick Corp. has signed on as the keynote speaker for the 2004 National Marina & Boatyard Conference and Exposition, Fort Lauderdale, February 4-7, event organizers reported in a statement today.

George Buckley will discuss “When Leadership Matters; Leading in Challenging Times” in the first General Session held on Thursday, February 5th at 9:00 am.

Buckley is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Brunswick Corp., positions he has held since June 2000. Buckley joined Brunswick’s Mercury Marine Group as president in 1997. He was elected a corporate senior vice president in 1999. He was appointed president and chief operating officer in april 2000 and chairman of the board and chief executive officer in June 2000.

Prior to joining Mercury Marine, Buckley was with Emerson Electric Co., serving as president of the St. Louis-based U.S. Electrical Motors Division, and the Automotive and Precision Motors Division. In addition, for a time, he served as the chief technology officer for Emerson’s worldwide group of motor and appliance-related businesses.

Also signed on to lead General Sessions are Marcia Kull, senior vice president of operations for Genmar; and Bill Yeargin, executive vice president of Rybovich Spencer.

The National Marina and Boatyard Conference and Exposition is produced by the Marina Operators Association of America (MOAA), the International Marina Institute (IMI) and American Boat Builders & Repairers Association (ABBRA), in affiliation with the Marine Retailers Association of America (MRAA).
