Mercury Marine unveils 2004 boat show promotions

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Mercury Marine is launching what it is calling “one of the most aggressive slates of boat show promotions in the history of the industry,” the company reported in a recent statement.

The promotions are in effect December 27 through April 15, and eligible engines must be warranty registered by April 30, 2004.

Through the promotions, nearly all outboard models 40 horsepower and greater – including FourStroke, OptiMax, carbureted and EFI two-stroke – will come with an additional two years of non-declining factory warranty. This is in addition to the one-to-three years of warranty protection already offered on these engines, and it is a true manufacturer’s warranty, according to Mercury.

In addition, nearly all carbureted, EFI and OptiMax two-stroke engines are eligible for cash rebates.

“Consumers will be getting money back, plus an outstanding bonus warranty,” said Jack Malone, Mercury’s vice president of Dealer & Retail Division Sales. “The additional two years of protection pushes the warranty on some of our engines to five years, which shows just how confident we are in our products.”

The promotions are additive, so consumers do not have to choose between the cash back or the additional warranty, the company reported. Rebates on qualifying purchases will be mailed directly to the consumer when the warranty registration is received by Mercury Marine prior to the deadline.

Rebate schedule released

The rebate schedule on carbureted two-strokes is as follows: 40, 50 and 60 hp — $100; 75 and 90 hp — $150; and 115 and 125 hp — $200.

For those customers who already own boats but would like to upgrade to a new engine, Mercury is also offering rigging allowances/rebates. Consumers may apply the allowance to the repower engine, Mercury rigging accessories or installation.

For OptiMax, those purchasing 90 and 115 hp engines receive a $300 rebate; those purchasing 135, 150 and 175 hp engines receive a $400 rebate; and those buying 200 and 225 hp models receive $600.

Those purchasing EFI Two-Stroke engines will receive $400 if buying a 150 hp model; and $600 if buying a 200, 225 or 250 hp model.

In the carbureted two-stroke category, those purchasing a 150 hp model will receive $400, and those buying a 200 hp engine will receive $600.

Mercury Racing Outboards, Sport Jet, Jet Drives and the 75 hp OptiMax, to be released before summer ’04, are not eligible for these promotions, according to the company. Program benefits apply to all new engines, 1999 model year and newer.
