Hatteras awards Virginia, Maryland to growing dealership
NEW BERN, N.C. – Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales has expanded into Virginia and Maryland, a move that effectively doubles the dealership’s territory, sportfishing and motor yacht builder Hatteras reported in a statement today.
Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales will immediately open new offices in Baltimore and Virginia Beach, and will expand into Ocean City, Md., in 2004, Hatteras stated. Founded just seven months ago as Hatteras’ dealer for the Carolinas, Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales has quickly proven itself capable of handling additional opportunities, according to the boat builder.
“We are pleased to award Virginia and Maryland to Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales,” said Bill Naumann, Hatteras president and CEO. “This dealership has showed an unwavering commitment to Hatteras Yachts since Day 1, and is backed by a team of professionals that is getting stronger by the day. Without question, they are raising the bar for Hatteras sales in the mid-Atlantic region.”
Dealer adds new executives
To support the expanded territory, Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales said it has added personnel, including Rob Miltz as vice president and general manger. Miltz, a member of the marine sales team at Detroit Diesel (now MTU) since 1994, most recently in the capacity of vice president of marine sales, will work with dealer principals Randy Ramsey and Dan Reitz to support the dealership’s five sales offices.
“Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales will quickly assume a leadership position in the mid-Atlantic yacht sales marketplace with Rob Miltz heading up our sales efforts,” said Ramsey. “With his strong leadership, knowledge of the marine industry, and his ability to organize and motivate a sales staff, he is a perfect fit for us.”
Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales also positioned itself for the expansion by hiring Roger Mooney to manage its Maryland office. Mooney is a sales professional who has spent the past five years overseeing all sales and business development functions for Gilman Yachts, a new and used brokerage firm headquartered in Florida, according to Hatteras.
“Roger Mooney is the cornerstone of our Maryland campaign,” Ramsey said. “He is always working the docks and is known for being aggressive in his business activities, but with an inviting and genuinely friendly demeanor. He brings us instant credibility in the Maryland area.”
Warranty and repair work within the region will be coordinated through Jarrett Bay’s 175-acre industrial park located on North Carolina’s Intracoastal Waterway in Beaufort. This site is home to numerous boating-related businesses, including distributors for Caterpillar, MTU and ZF Marine. With dockage space and 50- to 220-ton travel lifts available, Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales is fully equipped to offer any service required from Hatteras owner, the boat builder reported. Additional service facilities will be established in both Virginia and Maryland.
Jarrett Bay Yacht Sales is owned by Randy Ramsey and Dan Reitz. Ramsey, the founder of Jarrett Bay Boatworks, serves as the vice-president of the North Carolina Manufacturers Association and sits on the board of directors of the NC State University Student Aid Association and the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament.
Reitz, a former co-owner of Henry’s Tackle Company and Big Rock Sports, has a background in accounting and private equity investment and manages the company’s business structure. He has held leadership roles in the American Sportfishing Association, Carteret County Economic Development Council, and Take a Kid Fishing Foundation.
