Committee selected for 2004 National Marina Day
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The committee for the 2004 National Marina Day (NMD) has been selected, announced NMD Chair Kirby Cay Scheimann, CMM, in a statement from the Marina Operators Association of America (MOAA) on Friday.
National Marina Day is produced by MOAA and is an annual nationwide celebration of America’s marinas. In 2004, National Marina Day will be observed on August 14.

According to Scheimann, the National Marina Day Committee’s main tasks are to advise MOAA staff on the preparation of the 2004 National Marina Day Resource Kits and to serve as National Marina Day ambassadors in their states and regions.
“In an effort to both increase the total number of facilities participating in this program and to broaden National Marina Day’s geographic reach, the 2004 National Marina Day Committee is somewhat bigger than in years past,” said Schiemann. “This larger, more diverse committee will help MOAA achieve its goal of growing the NMD program and educating public officials about the marina industry. We will also be looking to the committee to help set the pace for local and state proclamations celebrating National Marina Day.”
In March of 2004, the NMD campaign will be officially kicked-off with a one-page bulletin inserted into that month’s newsletter edition of MOAA Messages and posted on the National Marina Day Web page at www.moaa.com. The campaign will elaborate on the 2004 NMD theme and offer suggestions on how marinas can join in the effort to educate public officials about the marina industry.
