Muir to target U.S. market

TASMANIA, Australia – With exports already accounting for around 60 percent of Muir Engineering Pty. Ltd.’s sales, the company now has plans for further expansion into the European and United States markets, Muir reported in a statement yesterday.

Muir is a manufacturer of winches and anchoring systems for pleasure craft, commercial and defense vessels and megayachts.

By instituting structured strategic plans, the company said it has achieved dramatic growth in export sales, with a 30-percent increase in sales to export markets during the past 12 months.

In addition, the rapid growth of business from the megayacht sector and new exports markets such as Russia, the Ukraine and South America have added to Muir’s success, the company added.

As a result, Muir Engineering Pty. Ltd. received the 2003 Tasmanian Exporter Awards (Small to Medium Manufacturer). This marks the third time that Muir has received the award, with wins in both 1995 and 2000, the company stated.

The Tasmanian Export Awards program recognizes the achievements of organizations that take a global view of their business. Such businesses are “prepared to make the long term investments necessary to achieve outstanding quality, customer support and product development that make their offering superior to all others,” reported the company.

By winning the award, Muir qualifies as a finalist in the Australian Export Awards, to be held in Sydney on November 12.
