Viking Yacht Co. sees $30 million in boat show sales

NEW GRETNA, N.J. — The Viking Yacht Co. reported a strong surge of sales totaling more than $30 million at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, which ran from October 30 through November 3, according to a statement from the company yesterday.

“We sold 15 boats by the end of the show on Monday evening, and completed five more deals directly related to boat show traffic by the end of the week,” said Patrick J. Healey, executive vice president of the company. “Interest was clearly across the board and we sold at least one of every model we build from 45 to 73 feet.”

“The scale model display of our newest Viking, the 73 Convertible also generated excitement and thanks to the boat show we have names for the seven slots, which are available for the coming year.”

The company anticipates that the model, which is the largest in the company’s history, will launch in May.

Viking’s sister company, Viking Sport Cruisers, also had considerable sales, selling all six-boats in its display, including its flagship 84 Motor Yacht.

“The new 75 Motor Yacht was another huge hit for us and retail activity is still running brisk after the show,” said Charlie Underwood, vice president of operations for Viking Sport Cruisers. Underwood also said that Viking Sport Cruisers is at its lowest inventory in company history.
