NMEA hands out product awards
SAVERNA PARK, Md. — The National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) distributed product awards Friday at the NMEA’s Annual Convention and Exposition at Sanibel Harbour Resort in Fort Myers, Fla., according to a statement from the association.
The NMEA product awards recognize excellence in design, performance and reliability in marine electronics products. The awards are selected by votes from marine electronics dealers, distributors and other industry professionals, stated the association.
According to the rules, each active, non-manufacturer member of the NMEA and each NMEA-certified marine electronics technician are allowed to cast one vote.
With 39 participating companies and 149 nominated products, this year’s contest marked a 10-percent increase in participation over last year, the association reported.
In addition, for the first time in the convention’s history there was a tie for this year’s “Best of Show” award: Sea Tel’s WaveCall 3000 and Raymarine’s DSM 250.
“This tie presents us with an exciting and unique situation,” said Beth Kahr, NMEA president. “As always, we’re pleased to recognize the highest quality marine electronics products, and this tie is a perfect example of the great work being done in the industry today.”
