MIASF to distribute updated boating safety guide
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF) will distribute the updated 2003- 2004 Broward Safe Boating Guide at the 44th Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the organization reported Wednesday.
The booklet is a free information resource for South Florida boaters and marine interests with important details necessary for safe and enjoyable recreational boating, the company stated.
The guide will be available at the MIASF Lighthouse Booth at Bahia Mar and at the Broward County Convention Center during the show and from several local marine retail outlets and organizations.
The guides include the Broward Sheriff’s Marine Unit and marine units of Broward County municipalities, local sailing and yachting clubs, the Power Squadron and Coast Guard Auxiliaries. After the show, boaters may also pick up a free copy of the guide at the MIASF office at 2312 South Andrews Ave. in Fort Lauderdale, or call (954) 524-2733 for details.
Produced annually by the MIASF with a grant made available through the Broward County Marine Advisory Committee, the new guide features information on the recently dredged Hillsboro Inlet, detailed color maps highlighting manatee and boating safety zones, and updated local marine information, including emergency telephone numbers and VHF channels, according to the association.
According to MIASF Executive Director Frank Herhold, the association achieve distribution of its 100,000th guide this year.
