Two men wanted in rash of marine thefts

SPANISH FORT, Ala. — A warrant has been issued for Keith Colby Stockman and Steven A. Young is in custody for their alleged participation in a waterborne theft ring.

According to an article in Baldwin County Now, Alabama Marine Police launched an investigation into the thefts on May 24, and up to 50 thefts are connected to the suspects. The thefts all occurred along the waterways of Mobile and Baldwin County.

A break in the case came when a theft victim found his stolen PWC at Young’s towing business. Additional stolen property was found at the location.

Among the victims was Blakeley State Park, which reported $4,000 worth of materials, such as props, cowlings and first aid kits, stolen from its boat. Items stolen from docked watercraft in Mobile includes props, cowlings, toolkits, skis, rods and reels.

Young turned himself in on June 13, Stockman is still at large and there may be a more yet-to-be-named suspects.
