DECATUR, Ala. — Professional anglers will use a regularly scheduled fishing tournament as a fundraiser to help tornado relief efforts in
Alabama.
The event is a part of the Bassmaster Elite Series. Thirteen of the series’ regular competitors are from Alabama.
Many have experienced tornado devastation in some capacity, and some have already contributed to recovery efforts, according to a statement from tournament organizers.
The tournament will take place on June 16-19 at Wheeler Lake near Decatur, Ala. The event has 99 anglers committed, who represent 27 states an one foreign country.
In addition, the event will hold a music festival called Family Jam.
Attendees will have the opportunity to support United Way’s Disaster Relief fund. United Way workers will be at the event with donation buckets. The goal is to raise $25,000.
