Peters & May reports 2011 growth

SOUTHAMPTON, United Kingdom — Global boat transportation provider Peters & May is reporting a significant growth in export volume for the first three months of 2011.

The company said monthly export figures for the Peters & May Group show major increases in boat exports for both the U.K. & U.S. offices during the first months of 2011. The company exported more 450 boats and yachts in March alone.

David Holley, Peters & May Group Chief Executive, sees the growth as positive news for the marine industry as well as the company.

“As a logistics provider, it is always pleasing to see an increase in export volumes and most importantly market share,” Holley said in a statement. “Recently we have made a number of bold changes within the organization and all eyes have been on us to see how we fair. As well as changes in our team structure, we have also implemented new booking systems and value added services to keep us ahead of the competition. The growth of our business is a direct reflection of the changes and the quality of the teams that we have in place.”

The company sees the growth as an indicator that the marine manufacturers sector is recovering.
