Nonprofit works to get disabled anglers back on the water

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Armchair Anglers, a nonprofit organization working to provide fishing trips for physically challenged anglers on a fully accessible, stable catamaran boat, recently launched a new website and fundraising effort, according to a release from the group.

Jim Hargaden, executive director and founder of the new effort, helped design the unique fishing boat, which the group is raising money to build.

“Our goal, to provide a safe and comfortable day of fishing and to provide education and smart catch and release techniques promoting conservation of our most valuable resources to this overlooked segment of the disabled community, is unique,” Hargaden said in the release. “Our fundraising efforts have begun in earnest and we will be working on gathering sufficient funds for the construction and rigging of this exciting venture with your help.”
