SOUTHOLD, N.Y. – Last weekend was Sea Tow Services International’s busiest Memorial Day holiday weekend in two years, the company reported in a recent statement.
Sea Tow’s 24-hour national call center dispatched 69 percent more calls during the holiday weekend (Saturday-Monday) than in 2008 and 54 percent more calls than in 2009.
The company attributed much of the increased activity to good weather across the U.S.
“Considering that several of the most recent Memorial Day holidays have been cool and rainy in some regions of the country, and the weak economy has been a virtual wet blanket on boating, it’s refreshing to see that boaters are once again taking to the water,” Joseph Frohnhoefer, Sea Tow’s chief operating officer, said in a release.
