MANASQUAN, N.J. — The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey recently made three Education Scholarships available for the 2009-2010 school year, according to a statement from the association. The scholarships are open to New Jersey residents who have recently graduated high school or are currently enrolled in a post secondary vocational program and are interested in pursuing a career in the marine industry.
The first $3000 MTA/NJ Education Scholarship can be applied toward a marine trades program at any school. The MTA/NJ was able to double the amount of the scholarship this year, thanks in part to a $1500 scholarship award from the Marine Retailers Association of America.
In addition, Pennco Tech School, in Blackwood, N.J, and the Automotive Training Center in Pennsylvania are sponsoring full scholarships to students interested in their Marine Technician Program or Marine Service Technology Program.
Information about the scholarships, including an overview of the application process, all three applications and a downloadable brochure highlighting career opportunities in the marine industry are available at mtanj.org.
“The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey Foundation’s goal is to help any individual who is serious about pursuing a career in the marine trades industry,” said MTA/NJ Executive Director Melissa Danko. “There are many rewarding and exciting careers available in the industry and we are pleased to have the opportunity to be able to provide these excellent education scholarships.”
