Power Cruising magazine to suspend print operations

NEWPORT, R.I. – The editorial content of Power Cruising magazine will be folded into Motor Boating magazine debuting in the March 2009 issue, and Power Cruising will suspend operations as a print magazine following the January/February issue, Bonnier Corp. reported in a release yesterday.

“The decision to end the printing of Power Cruising did not come easily, but the current economic difficulties that are plaguing the industry required a change in course,” said Glenn Hughes, Group Publisher of the Bonnier Marine Group, a division of Bonnie Corp. “The best way to continue to serve our readers with editorial that inspires and enables their cruising dreams is to deliver Power Cruising’scontent within its sister publication and through the Web.”? ?Chris Cornell, editor of Power Cruising, will continue to lead the online component. In addition, he will serve as a senior editor at Motor Boating.

Bonnier said that adding Power Cruising’s signature destination features and cruising-lifestyle editorial will enhance and expand Motor Boating’s cruising focus. Power Cruising, launched in 2004, will continue as an online component and launch an e-newsletter in 2009 targeting content to active coastal cruisers.
