Florida Boating Foundation awarded FEMA grant

DELAND, Fla. — FEMA awarded The Florida Boating Foundation, Inc., a $313,000 hurricane education grant to produce and distribute DVDs for boaters and marine industry businesses in the state of Florida, the foundation announced today.

The foundation will produce DVDs for boaters, marinas and marine businesses with information on storm preparation and recovering from and preventing re-occurring loss, along with additional resources and contacts. It will also produce television public service announcements focused on community awareness.

The DVDs will be distributed by the Marine Industries Association of Florida’s member associations.

“Minimizing the damage done by these storms is the main objective of this program. History has proven that taking the proper steps in preparation will reduce losses, cut recovery time and in the long run keep insurers in the market with affordable rates,” said David Ray, director of the Florida Boating Foundation.

The Florida Boating Foundation was established to provide education and information to Florida’s recreational boating industry and boaters.
