MMA launches awards program

ORLANDO – Marine Marketers of America has announced final plans for the first-ever Marine Marketers national awards program, designed to recognize outstanding performance in the marine marketing field, and a call for entries is now underway, MMA reported in a recent release.

“For our first year, we have selectively chosen a few categories of entry and are hopeful to generate solid response from our industry’s marketers,” said Committee Chair and MMA Board Member Sally Helme. “We have focused on print and online advertising as well as a single PR category. The goal is to build a solid foundation and then expand the program in the coming years. The initial response and buzz has been very positive and we’re hoping for both a great turn-out for the event, as well as strong competition from our industry marketers.”

Program details including an event flyer, submission forms, and entry guidelines are posted on the association Web site www.marinemarketersofamerica.com.

The competition is open to any company or organization producing marine industry marketing work from the period Sept. 2007 – Sept. 2008. Deadline for submission is Oct. 4, 2008. Information regarding luncheon ticket reservations will be forthcoming and will include individual and corporate table options. The event is open to members and non-members alike.

Helme, along with co-chairs Mike Sciulla of BoatUS and Tammi Anderson of Nordic Tug and committee members, are busy coordinating logistics and judges, the latter of which will include a mix of both industry and outside marketing experts.

The event will be held at Bahia Mar during the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show on Oct. 30, 2008 in conjunction with a celebratory lunch from 12 – 1:30 pm. The awards luncheon is presented by Info-Link, Technologies, Inc. with additional sponsorships provided by Show Management and Home Port Marketing.
