Duncan McIntosh Co. acquires Boating World

IRVINE, Calif. – Boating World magazine was purchased last week by the Duncan McIntosh Co., an Irvine, Calif.-based publisher and boat show producer, the company said in a recent release.

The magazine will be merged with Go Boating magazine into a single title, publisher Duncan McIntosh said.

“We are going to combine the strongest features and elements of Boating World and Go Boating – including the editorial, boat testing, new media and the best of our circulations – to create the strongest media choice possible for reaching the North American recreational boating market,” McIntosh said. “The fun will be in taking this to the next level, by taking both magazines apart and putting them back together again to meet the challenges of a changing market.”

Boating World, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, was based in Atlanta and was previously published by Trans World. The magazine has a circulation of 100,000, according to BPA, an industry circulation auditing company.

McIntosh’s California-based Go Boating is in its second decade of publication and has a circulation of 90,000, according to BPA.
