Affinity boating publications win Maggie Awards

MAPLE GROVE, Minn. – Affinity Boating Media’s recreational boating and performance fishing boat publications, Trailer Boats and BWB (Bass & Walleye Boats), each brought home a 2008 Maggie trophy from the Western Publishers Association at a ceremony held recently in Los Angeles, the company said today. Affinity Boating Media also owns Boating Industry.

The Maggies honor print and electronic consumer and trade magazines in categories ranging from sports and automotive, business, lifestyle and music to newsletters and associations.

BWB (Bass & Walleye Boats) won its Maggie for most improved publication.

“This Maggie is BWB’s first-ever and is an affirmation of the new name, new logo, new design and refined editorial direction we launched last year,” said Jim Hendricks, BWB and Trailer Boats publisher and editorial director.

Trailer Boats’ 2007 special project entitled “Great Escapes” tied for top Maggie honors in the single sponsor category. Great Escapes included adventure travel stories and was sponsored by Toyota Trucks.

“The great challenge with single sponsored titles is providing readers with strong, entertaining and practical content while also serving the sponsor’s marketing objectives,” Hendricks said. “This Maggie recognizes that with ‘Great Escapes,’ the Trailer Boats editorial crew struck that delicate balance.”
