MRAA and ABYC partner to add dealer benefits

OAK PARK, Ill. – The Marine Retailers Association of America and the American Boat & Yacht Council are working together to offer all Marine Industry Certified Dealerships a variety of benefits, MRAA reported in a recent release.

ABYC has a strong desire to work with certified dealerships by making ABYC technical standards available to them, and NMMA Certified boats are being built to endorsed ABYC standards and then being sold by certified dealers, so that’s what they should be maintained and repaired to, MRAA wrote in its release.

“Simply put, it closes the loop between certified boats, trailers, dealerships and technicians,” said Skip Burdon, ABYC president.

In order to facilitate the process, MRAA and ABYC have worked to make these standards available to all MRAA Certified dealerships.

The benefits of this special offer will include:

  • A free ABYC membership ($240 value) through December 2008
  • A free ABYC Standards book. Dealers will receive the 2007 book in March and the 2008 book in July/August
  • A free quarterly professional journal, the “Reference Point,” hard copy and journal
  • A 10 percent discount on all ABYC education and training
  • A 10 percent discount on all Westlawn courses
  • At least a 10 percent discount on all ABYC books, study guides and merchandise
  • Starting in May/June, the ability to create and maintain an advertising page on the membership Web space
  • Ability to participate on Project Technical Committees in person or through virtual PTC
  • Ability for service personnel to earn ABYC Certified and Master Certified Technician status.
  • “All interested certified dealerships will receive the above benefits free of charge by simply contacting MRAA,” said Phil Keeter, MRAA president.

The offer will be good until April 15, 2008. Dealerships wanting to participate should contact MRAA at mraa@mraa.com and ask for the special ABYC Program.
