The Landing School holds annual job fair
ARUNDEL, Maine — The Landing School is inviting representatives from boat shops and yards around the world to meet its graduating class of 2008 at its annual Job Fair, Friday, April 4, the company reported in a recent statement.
Marine employers will have direct access to more than 70 students seeking employment in the marine industry following their June graduation, according to the school. Students from The Landing School’s Boatbuilding, Yacht Design, Marine Systems and Composites programs will all be available to meet potential employers, and they will be allocating time for private one-on-one job interviews with select companies, reported The Landing School.
All marine businesses are invited to attend The Landing School Job Fair at no cost. Representatives from marine businesses are invited to set up their literature tables at The School at 11:00 a.m. and then join the school’s staff and faculty for a tour of the facility and lunch. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., representatives will have the opportunity to present information about their companies to groups of students, and arrange for short interviews later in the day, the school added.
“Students take advantage of our Job Fair to assess what career choices are available to them,” said Barry Acker, president of The Landing School. “Every year we have many students who use the Job Fair to contract for employment after graduation with successful boat shops and yards.”
Marine companies can confirm their attendance at The Landing School Job Fair on Friday, April 4, by downloading a participation form from the school’s Web site, www.landingschool.edu, and returning it completed before March 7. Space is limited and will be allocated to companies in the order in which they respond. If a company is unable to attend but would like to have a presence at the Job Fair, it can forward company literature and open-job descriptions by March 7 so they can be made available to the students.
