Sea Tow grew almost 8 percent in 2007
SOUTHOLD, N.Y. – Keith Cummings, president of Sea Tow Services International Inc., said during the opening address of the organization’s 25th annual meeting, held this year at the Amelia Island Plantation in Amelia Island, Fla., that Sea Tow grew nearly 8 percent in 2007 despite challenges posed by fuel costs, water access issues and the economy.
Cummings said Sea Tow also significantly expanded its suite of member-only services.
The meeting, which took place from Jan. 28 – Feb. 1, coincided with the annual meeting for C-PORT, which is the marine assistance industry’s association of record.
The meeting’s theme – “Defining the Future” – was chosen to celebrate the company’s growth in a year of economic downturn and to establish strategic initiatives for 2008 and beyond.
Sea Tow Wrightsville Beach (N.C.), led by owner Capt. Chris Willis, received the “Franchise of the Year” award at the company’s annual awards ceremony.
Capt. Walter Garschagen was recognized as Sea Tow’s “Rookie of the Year.” Garschagen, who is the new owner of Sea Tow Central Hudson (N.Y.), was recognized for his business acumen and consummate professionalism.
Capt. Chris Hall, chief of Search and Rescue for the U.S. Coast Guard, presented the company’s Lifesaving Awards. The honorees included Capt. Dave Lemieux of Sea Tow Charlotte Harbor (Fla.); Capt. Chris Pike of Sea Tow Central Connecticut; Capt. Jack Moran, owner of Sea Tow Naples (Fla.); Capt. Dave Galloway of Sea Tow Ocean Isle (N.C.); Sea Tow Miami; Capt. Lyman Louis, owner of Sea Tow Portland/Vancouver (Ore./Wash.); Capt. Ron and Stephanie Molway of Sea Tow Charlotte Harbor and Capt. Alex and Capt. Jeff White, co-owners of Sea Tow Lower Chesapeake.
