Virginia Clean Marina program receives grant

GLOUCESTER POINT, Va. – The Virginia Clean Marina Program has received a grant from the state’s Chesapeake Bay Restoration Fund to produce an educational DVD for boaters regarding clean boating practices and the clean marina program, VCMP said in a statement Wednesday.

The DVD will highlight potential pollution stemming from boating and the marina industry and means to eliminate and reduce those problems.

“We want the DVD to be entertaining to hold viewer interest, but cover all the important topics,” said Wendy Larimer, VCMP coordinator. “We hope to coordinate with boater education programs to ensure a wide distribution of the video, especially to those new to boating.”

The program plans to put out a request for bids for the production of the DVD in spring 2008.
