Volvo Penta, Stingray announce exclusive partnership
CHESAPEAKE, VA, June 26, 2007 – Beginning with the 2008 model year, Stingray Powerboats will exclusively offer Volvo Penta propulsion in its boats, the companies announced recently.
“We are excited to offer dealers and boaters Volvo Penta propulsion,” said Al Fink, founder of Stingray. “This commitment will allow us to offer our customers a new level of quality due to the tight collaboration between Stingray and Volvo Penta. Stingray has long been recognized for optimum performance and corresponding fuel efficiency from our hull designs. We believe with the introduction of Volvo Penta’s new, hydro-dynamically engineered SX and DPS we can further raise the bar in terms of performance and economy. In total, this new cooperation will result in a significant elevation of the customer’s ownership experience.”
Stingray said it made the decision to make Volvo Penta its sole engine supplier for a number of reasons, including increased plant efficiency, reliable on time delivery of engines and parts creating opportunity for inventory reduction, contained training costs for engine installation technicians and greater standardization.
The agreement, the companies say, will offer dealers the benefits of a compelling, focused sales presentation coupled to the financial efficiency gained from just one parts inventory and one training requirement for technicians. Additionally they believe that Volvo Penta’s payment of retail shop labor rates from day one will result in motivated service responses and well-compensated dealers.
