Wave joins forces with International Yachtsman

MIAMI – Wave, a nautical lifestyle magazine that the McClatchy Company owns in part and Marine Media Works publishes, has merged with HPJ Media Venture’s International Yachtsman, a lifestyle publication for the yachting elite, Wave said in a press release yesterday.

“This transaction is yet another significant step in our continued objective of acquiring and developing vertical titles within the nautical lifestyle category,” said Jose Chao, Wave’s president. “Wave’s family of integrated media solutions has the ability to link marketers to an affluent, discerning readership. We can now expand that mission with the addition of the International Yachtsman franchise and the extended reach it provides.”

Recognizing the financial power of the baby boomers, Robert Rodriguez, Wave’s chairman, foresees a rise in disposable income and an increase in the purchase of luxury items, ranging from nautical apparel and goods to more expensive items such as water toys and personal watercraft.

“I know International Yachtsman will continue its success under the watchful eye of our new partners,” said Jack Theimer, HPJ Media Ventures Fund CEO. “It is an incredible product with a dedicated readership, and I am excited to see where this merger will take us.”
