ALEXANDRIA, Va. – BoatU.S. Towing, an on-the-water towing service for recreational boaters, has made a number of changes recently, the company said in statements this week.
Capt. Brian Williams took the helm of TowBoatU.S. Detroit/Lake St. Clair in Michigan. Williams expanded the operation to include Port Huron, Mich. Also, Capt. Andrew Adams opened a TowBoatU.S. port opened at St. Joe/Mexico Beach, Fla.
Williams purchased the TowBoatU.S. Detroit/Lake St. Clair from Capt. Terry Becker, who recently retired. The Port Huron location is on the St. Clair River. Williams is a Detroit native and local tugboat captain. He was formerly the Captain of the Marine Division of Inland Waters Pollution, a local environmental services company.
TowBoatU.S. has added a location on Florida’s Panhandle with the opening of Port St. Joe/Mexico Beach, located just north of Cape San Blas. It is the third towing port for Adams, who also operates TowBoatU.S. Destin, Fla., and TowBoatU.S. Panama City, Fla., which brings the total TowBoatU.S. ports in the Panhandle to nine.
Adams opened his first Destin location in 2005 and added the Panama City location in May 2006. With the opening of his third new location in as many years, Adams says business is growing.
“More boaters are coming to the region and looking for reliable assistance that they can call on 24-hours a day,” Adams said.
