Kids boating program gains another sponsor
WESTERLY, R.I. — Captain Kids, Inc. has signed Interlux on as a 2007 sponsor of its youth education initiative, it reported in a statement earlier this week.
Captain Kids is a national organization designed to connect kids, parents and educators to a broad range of maritime activities in, on, and under the water. The Captain Kids initiative is conducted in Allied Partnership with the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA).
Interlux’s support will include the Captain Kids Discovery Point Exhibit hosted at several boat shows and sport shows throughout the 2007 season. The Discovery Point Exhibit will be unveiled January 10-14 at the New Orleans Boat Show. The support will also assist with the national web site for kids, parents and educators and SPLASH In The CLASS, a new program in public and private elementary schools bringing water education into the classroom, the organization reported.
“We’re excited to work with Captain Kids” said Bob Donat, VP Marketing for Interlux Yacht Finishes. “This is our third year supporting this initiative and we have seen a considerable growth in participation. Boating, fishing and all water activities provide a great lifestyle for kids. Captain Kids and NMMA are leading the way to see that children have an opportunity to experience the water.”
“Captain Kids is designed to get children involved with water activities at an early age while also educating them on the environment, ocean science, boating destinations and other aquatic information,” said Tom Griffin, president of Captain Kids. “The level of support provided by Interlux demonstrates a clear industry commitment to the next generation of boaters and the stewards of our greatest natural resource—water.”
Grady White Boats, Tiara Yachts, Taylor Made Products, Mercury Marine, The Water Channel, 3M and NOAA have also contributed support for the Captain Kids initiative and Discovery Point Exhibit.
