NMMA to form water access partnership

CHICAGO – The National Marine Manufacturers Association is about to take a big step forward in the battle to protect and expand water access.

During the 2006 International BoatBuilders’ Exhibition and Conference (IBEX), which kicks off tomorrow at the Miami Convention Center, NMMA will sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the U.S. Forest Service in an effort “to increase boating access on public lands and promote aquatic conservation and stewardship,” it reported in a statement yesterday.

The event, which will involve NMMA President Thom Dammrich; Gloria Manning, Associate Deputy Chief, U.S. Forest Service; Monita W. Fontaine, NMMA’s vice president & senior counsel of Government Relations; and The Water Access Task Force, will take place Thursday, November 2 at 8:30 am in room B212.
