MMTA elects officers and directors
MILTON, Mass. – The Massachusetts Marine Trades Association elected officers and directors yesterday to represent and advance the interests of the Commonwealth’s recreational boating industry whose membership includes boat dealers, retailers and brokers, repairers, boat builders, marinas, boatyard and marine industry professionals, MMTA said in a release this morning.
The association’s new president is Kurt Saunders of Saunders Boat Livery in Southwick. Saunders hails from western Massachusetts, but Cape Cod, the Southeast Coast, the North and South Shores and the Boston Harbor communities are also well represented by the 20 members of the board, MMTA said.
“It is truly an honor to work with such dedicated volunteers,” said Leona Roach, MMTA executive director. “These men and women manage both the professional demands of their own marine businesses yet still find time to dedicate to their industry and their colleagues through their work as Board members. The marine industry in Massachusetts is geographically and professionally well represented by these committed, forward-thinking officers and directors.”
MMTA’s new administration looks forward to securing a home for the 2007 New England Boat Show at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, expanding recreational boating access and dockage, fostering marine training opportunities and supporting the Massachusetts Legislative Boating Caucus in its efforts to address Abandoned Vessels in the Commonwealth among other issues, MMTA said.
