N.J. governor designates Bring a Buddy Boating week

BRICK, N.J. – New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine has proclaimed July 10-16 “Bring A Buddy Boating” week in the state, the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey said in a press release yesterday.

“Bring A Buddy Boating” week will focus on encouraging current boaters to bring their friends, coworkers and others, to participate in special events, open houses, fishing tournaments and boating activities at marinas and out on the water. The event aims to increase participation in boating and bring overall awareness to the general public that boating is an easily accessible and fun recreational activity.

“We are extremely pleased and honored that Governor Corzine has proclaimed July 10-16, 2006 as ‘Bring A Buddy Boating’ Week,” said Melissa Danko, MTA/NJ executive director. “The recognition of ‘Bring A Buddy Boating’ Week signifies just how important the boating industry is to the State of New Jersey, the economy, and all local communities. A strong and growing boating industry will benefit everyone that enjoys the beautiful waterways of New Jersey.”

The proclamation recognizes that water sports and recreational activities play a major role in state’s tourism and recreational industries and that more Americans are choosing recreational boating as an ideal way to vacation and entertain family and friends each year.
