Dometic Environmental acquires Eskimo Ice

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Dometic Environmental Corp. has purchased marine industry crushed ice machine supplier Eskimo Ice’s assets and intellectual property, Dometic said in a press release yesterday.

Under the terms of the acquisition, key existing Eskimo Ice employees will become Dometic employees and production will be moved into Dometic’s Pompano Beach, Fla., plant. Bill Grayson, Eskimo Ice president, is retiring to pursue other interests, but has agreed to consult for Dometic on an as needed basis.

The patented Eskimo Ice 600 ice pump is used in the marine industry. The product, which installs in the boat’s engine room, provides a steady, continuous supply of crushed ice to the boat’s fish box or ice chest.

The Eskimo Ice acquisition is part of a Dometic Environmental strategic initiative to move into the ice making sector. The company unveiled a patented, split-gas crushed ice making system at the 2006 Miami International Boat Show in February.

“The addition of the Eskimo Ice self-contained system gives us a full product line of patented ice makers for our customers,” said Frank Marciano, Dometic Environmental Corp. president.
