MIACC reports tremendous growth in Florida

NAPLES, Fla. – Florida’s marine industry represents a total economic output of over $18.4 billion dollars and has grown 159 percent from 1995 to 2005, the Marine Industries Association of Collier County reported in a release earlier this week.

The MIACC said that in Collier County alone, $173,699,462.00 was generated in 2005 by the marine industry and said that recreational boating is greater than Florida’s Citrus and Cruise Ship Industries combined.

MIACC said it is moving forward in numbers and strength.

“There are many issues relating to boating, the boating industry, Naples Bay, the environment, safety and education,” said Frank Perrucci, board director and chair of membership. “In order to retain the level of effectiveness in this growing industry, we must continue to strive to increase membership. Increased membership strengthens our political stand locally and at the state level, our financial position and our level of influence throughout the marine community. New people bring new ideas.”
