Marine University and Volvo Penta execute license agreement

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Marine University and Volvo Penta have executed a license agreement for distributing newly revised and National Association of State Boating Law Administrators-approved Boater101 manuals to Volvo Penta’s dealers, Marine University said in a press release Wednesday.

The license agreement includes the distribution of 10,000 Boater101 manuals to up to 200 Volvo Penta dealers. The Boater101 manual is a full-reference guide for boating basics including valuable information for both new and experienced boaters. It touches upon boat terminology, rules of the road, waterway markers, environmental protection, state specific information and more. Dealers will distribute the manuals to new customers in an effort to grow boating through promoting safety on the water. Dealers will also learn about Marine University’s certification program, which can train staff to offer nationally standardized boating safety education classes at their facilities.

“Within Volvo Penta’s core values are safety and care for the environment,” said Clint Moore, Volvo Penta of the Americas’ president. “Marine University’s Boater101 program has direct synergy with these priorities. By providing our dealers with Boater101 manuals we are facilitating boating safety education at the point of sale.”

“Volvo Penta’s support is taking an important step towards establishing boating safety education at the point of sale as a standard for the marine industry,” said Susan Engle, Marine University president. “We are currently working with two other leading manufacturers to execute similar agreements.”
