Defender posts record October sales
WATERFORD, Conn. – Sales for discount marine supplier Defender Industries increased 17.7 percent in October compared to the same time period in 2004, the company said in a recent release.
Sales numbers for the month were the highest ever in the 67-year history of the company.
“Our year-to-date sales were already at a record high – October’s strong results pushed us even farther ahead of last year,” said Al Knupp, executive director. “2005 will be Defender’s best year ever.”
The company said its strongest growth categories were marine electronics, inflatable boats and outboard motors, and safety products. Defender has already surpassed total 2004 annual sales in the inflatable boats & outboard motors product group with two months left to go.
“Boaters are looking for ways to stretch their dollars and still enjoy their favorite leisure activities,” said Stephan Lance, Defender vice president.
