SAN DIEGO - Following in the footsteps of shows like “Monster Garage” and “American Chopper,” the Outdoor Life Network is preparing to launch an original series that follows customer boat builders as they create concept boats, Reality TV Magazine reported in a recent story.
“Rock the Boat” will follow John West, owner of San Diego's Ultra Custom Boats, and his crew as they combine custom interiors, sounds systems, chrome, aftermarket parts and posh paint jobs to craft some of the toughest, most unique and awe-inspiring performance boats on the water, according to the magazine.
Viewers will get an inside look at West's operation, from his astute assessment of his clients' lifestyles, which drive his creative concepts, to the parts and people that make it happen. His custom boats have found international attention, including a six-liter, fuel injected Ultra 21 Stealth boat custom-built for the reality show Fear Factor, as well as a made-to-order 27 Shadow for Jesse James, owner of West Coast Choppers and star of “Monster Garage.” West and his boats have graced the cover of more than 22 magazines, and won Powerboat Magazine's “Boat of the Year” award twice.
“This new series will give viewers a chance to witness the characters battle themselves, each other and the clock - as a team - to build the toughest high-performance boats on the water,” said Gavin Harvey, president of OLN.
From the first-ever completely voice-activated sound system to a steering wheel made of liquid ice, each episode of “Rock the Boat” gives viewers a window into West's mind and special tools of the trade, including how he and the team create the wildest graphics, newest technical features and best hand-built super fast engines in the powerboat world.
