Alumacraft reaches lawsuit settlement

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – A settlement has been reached between a Wisconsin woman and Alumacraft Boat Company shortly before a lawsuit between the two parties was set to go to trial, a Wisconsin television station reported on its Web site.

The suit was brought by an Eau Claire woman whose husband drowned in 2002. Her lawyer said the focus of the lawsuit was a seat hinge that broke, and that there have been other serious issues with the hinge. He also said the accident “will repeat itself until Alumacraft completes a true recall,” WQOW, the ABC affiliate in Eau Claire reported.

Alumacraft officials were unavailable for comment this morning.
