MRAA lauds manufacturers addressing warranty reimbursement
OAK PARK, Ill. – Marine Retailers Association of America President, Phil Keeter issued a statement yesterday in support of the manufacturers that are forthcoming in addressing their warranty reimbursement programs with dealers.
Recent dealer meetings have seen a number of manufacturers upgrade the reimbursement on parts and labor to dealers.
The most recent was MasterCraft, which last week announced that in addition to full retail shop labor rate, they will pay a 10-percent markup on warranty parts to dealers who meet requirements.
“MasterCraft believes its retail customers should always receive outstanding customer service and we believe we should fairly compensate our dealers for providing that service,” said Terry Bell, CEO of MasterCraft.
“MRAA is encouraged to see the manufacturers starting to address one of the weakest areas of dealer/manufacturer agreements,” Keeter said. “Realizing that a dealer must be compensated adequately on warranty repairs certainly makes the consumer better served. Hopefully, we’ll see this situation fully cured in the next few months.”
