Baja and GM team up for tour
BUCYRUS, Ohio – Baja Marine has teamed with General Motors’ Powertrain Division to send special edition versions of Baja’s 23 Outlaw boat and GM’s HUMMER H2 SUT – both powered by GM Powertrain engines – on tour of the U.S. this summer on the Baja HUMMER Dream Tour, the boat builder reported in a recent statement.
The 23 Outlaw, which first launched in September 2004, is propelled by a MerCruiser 496 MAG sterndrive engine delivering 375 horsepower. It also features an upgraded Clarion performance stereo system and a custom paint job by Kustom Kolors. The green, yellow and orange graphics in an original design match the exterior of the HUMMER H2 SUT. This Outlaw is completed by a custom steering wheel, a custom motorlid and Baja’s SST package.
The HUMMER H2 SUT features a Vortec 6000 6.0L V8 engine and 325 horsepower with a full-time four-wheel drive transfer, a towing capacity of 6,700 lbs. and special edition Rockford Fosgate amps and speakers.
The H2 SUT has a look all its own, with its SMA heavy-duty brushguard, 35-inch Toyo tires on black chrome 22-inch Raceline wheels and B&B exhaust. SMA added their complete billet kit in chrome, including hood panel, front mini grille, and a mix of licensed billet from GM.
Brothers Bret and Matt Van den Heuvel will be driving this one-of-a-kind combo across the country on the Baja HUMMER Dream Tour, working their way from Florida to the West Coast and back.
“This awesome rig will be stopping at Baja on-water events and HUMMER dealerships from June to September as part of a national tour,” said Barbara Grobicki, director of marketing for Baja Marine. “It will be a great opportunity for Baja to show off its latest innovations and for our customers to see what fun lies ahead.”
