ABC names keynote speaker

WASHINGTON – Secretary of the Interior Gale Norton will deliver the keynote address to attendees of the 2005 American Boating Congress in Washington, D.C. May 1-3, the National Marine Manufacturers Association reported in a recent release.

Norton administers numerous programs affecting recreational boating with the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation under her purview. She oversees boating access, endangered species protection, invasive species control, and conservation efforts throughout the country.

“We are honored that Secretary of Interior Gale Norton will serve as keynote speaker at the American Boating Congress this year and will share with attendees her extensive natural resources management expertise and insight,” said Thom Dammrich, NMMA president.

Al Frink, assistant secretary for Manufacturing and Services at the U.S. Department of Commerce will be the featured speaker at the ABC Business of Boating Entrepreneurial Luncheon sponsored by Indmar Marine Engines.

In a position created by President George W. Bush, Al Frink is the first Assistant Secretary for Manufacturing and Services, serving as chief advocate for the U.S. manufacturing sector within the federal government and brings 30 years of private-sector experience to his new position.

Other confirmed ABC speakers include Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-N.C.) and Reps. Ric Keller (R-Fla.) and Randy Forbes (R-Va.).
