Boating caucus co-chair tours Mercury

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – U.S. Senator Herb Kohl (D-Wis.), who recently was appointed co-chairman of the Senate boating caucus, toured Mercury Marine’s facilities in Fond du Lac, Wis., yesterday and met with several of the company’s employees.

The senator took an extensive tour of Mercury’s lost-foam-under-pressure facility, a process that allows Mercury to consistently produce castings, and is the only such facility in the United States, and one of only two in the world.

Kohl also toured Mercury’s assembly area, where the company’s four-cylinder and six-cylinder four-stroke Verado engines are manufactured.

The senator closed his tour with a 30-minute question-and-answer session with employees from throughout the plant.
