Red Cross honors Unified Marine

NAPLES, Fla. – The Collier County Florida chapter of the American Red Cross has honored Red Cross co-chair David Nirenberg and Unified Marine – Team SeaSense as “Heroes” for contributions and volunteer efforts in 2004 and 2005.

In addition to monetary contributions to the Red Cross, Unified Marine founder and CEO David Nirenberg managed public shelters during Hurricanes Charley and Frances, and he also regularly volunteers in other capacities at the chapter’s headquarters in Naples.

Nirenberg managed the emergency shelters, which hold approximately 500 people, while his wife Selma volunteered as a nurse.

“It’s a little like running a hotel,” said Nirenberg.

Each shelter provided 3 meals a day, snacks, medical services and a safe place to sleep.
