Marine distributors donate $50,000 to Grow Boating

CHICAGO – The Grow Boating Initiative received a $50,000 contribution to the Grow Boating Start Up Fund this week from the National Marine Distributors Association (NMDA), the National Marine Manufacturers Association reported in a statement today.

With this contribution, the industry is closing in on its goal to raise $2 million before the Miami International Boat Show.

“Distribution is a vital part of the recreational boating industry, and we believe all industry segments should play an active role in supporting the Grow Boating Initiative,” said NMDA Executive Director Nancy Cueroni. “The value of the Grow Boating campaign and the tremendous impact we feel it will have on the future success of boating encouraged our organization to throw as much financial support behind the program as possible.”

The contribution is part of the $2 million Start Up Fund that is being used to pay for the creative development and production of the marketing campaign that is expected to launch in 2005. The marketing campaign will be introduced at a special All-Industry Meeting at the Miami International Boat Show, being held February 16 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

“NMDA’s contribution is very impressive and represents a significant portion of their annual budget. The association and its membership dug deep to demonstrate their commitment to Grow Boating, and it illustrates how all industry segments continue to cooperate to ensure that the Grow Boating campaign becomes a reality,” said NMMA President Thom Dammrich.
