Indmar, Faria & Sail America contribute to Grow Boating

CHICAGO – Indmar Products Co., Faria Marine Corp. and Sail America have made contributions to the Grow Boating Initiative this week, helping the total donations to the fun reach nearly $1.3 million.

Indmar Products contributed an amount equal to 100 percent of its annual National Marine Manufacturer dues, or three times the amount of the original member assessment.

“The Grow Boating Initiative has momentum. It appears all segments of the industry are excited about this direction and are contributing at all levels,” said Indmar President Chuck Rowe. “I would encourage all NMMA Members to give in addition to their assessment assuring the initial success of this campaign. These efforts will help assure that the Marine Industry is poised to compete for the consumer’s recreational dollars today and in the future.”

Faria Marine announced that it has sent a contribution equal to nearly 150 percent of its annual NMMA dues. Faria CEO Dave Blackburn said he is very enthused and supportive of the initiative, and, he said, it is encouraging to see the genuine beginnings of a sensitivity to the fact that all elements of boating really do need to work together on certain issues if the industry is to prosper.

Sail America also announced a $50,000 contribution from the organization in addition to matching contributions from its members, which could make the total donation exceed more than $250,000.

“From what I have seen, this is the second largest contribution to date, and we are extremely proud and excited to make a donation of this magnitude,” said Sail America Executive Director Scot West. “For an association of our size, I can say with 100 percent certainty that we reached deep and contributed as much as we could.

“The total impact of our upfront contribution of $50,000, along with the matching funding model we have put in place should get the sailing industry’s combined total contribution over $200,000 in the first few months of 2005 and this should make Sail America the single largest contributor to the start up funding which shows how completely we support Grow Boating and expect it to make great things happen for sailing and the overall marine industry.”
