Grow Boating contribution breaks record

CHICAGO – GE has made the largest contribution to date to the Start-Up Fund for the Grow Boating campaign, giving $100,000 to the program, the National Marine Manufacturers Association said in a release today.

GE is contributing $50,000 each from two businesses: Commercial Distribution Finance (CDF) – a unit of GE Commercial Finance, Vendor Financial Services – which provides dealer floor plan financing and other services; and GE Consumer Finance, which provides revolving and installment retail financing.

“GE is proud to be a major contributor to the Grow Boating Initiative,” said Richard Strickler, executive vice president of the CDF Marine unit. “Our commitment to the marine industry makes the decision to provide our support an easy one. The timing of this effort couldn’t be better as the entire industry seeks to ignite growth in 2005.”

The GE contribution is part of the $2 million Start-Up Fund that will fund the creative development and production of a promotional campaign that will launch this year.

“We hope that GE’s generous contribution will influence more industry stakeholders to take up the charge and make their donations to the campaign,” said NMMA President Thom Dammrich. “We are closer than ever to introducing a cooperative marketing campaign for the boating industry, and while we appreciate the generous donation from GE we need all industry stakeholders to contribute at whatever level is comfortable for their business in order to reach our goal.”

The list of contributors to the GBI Start Up Fund is updated daily on www.growboating.org.
