ComNav to sponsor Grenada sailing festival

RICHMOND, British Columbia – Autopilots and navigation instruments manufacturer ComNav Marine Ltd. is sponsoring the 2005 LaSource Grenada Sailing Festival, the company said in a release yesterday.

The sponsorship is part of an effort to increase ComNav’s presence in the Caribbean and it will also aid the annual Grenadian event as the island recovers from hurricane damage.

“As we fight back from the devastating effects of Hurricane Ivan, gaining the support of such a major international marine company is a great boost,” said festival chairman James Robinson.

As a platinum-level sponsor, ComNav will host the skippers’ welcoming dinner. In addition, the skippers will compete for the ComNav NX2 Cup in the festival’s final race. The cup is named after the company’s new Fast Data Exchange sail racing instruments.

“Our participation in the sailing festival is the first of many initiatives we are undertaking to increase product awareness in North America and the Caribbean,” ComNav Marine’s territory manager Dave Martin said.

Founded in 1994, the sailing festival attracts sailing enthusiasts from around the world and features a unique mix of racing craft, from international yachts to traditional wooden, bamboo-rigged workboats. The festival will take place Jan. 28 through Feb. 1 as originally scheduled.
