Teleflex Marine donates to Grow Boating initiative

CHICAGO – Responding to the Grow Boating presentation at IBEX 2004, Tom Douglass, the vice president of the Sales & Marketing group at Teleflex Marine, has decided to support the program with a leadership contribution of $25,000 to the Grow Boating Start Up Fund, the National Marine Manufacturers Association reported in a statement today.

Teleflex Marine, an NMMA member, is already contributing to the fund through the 33-percent dues assessment approved by the NMMA board. But Douglass said he thought that if his company could offer an additional contribution on top of its member assessment, it might inspire other companies to do the same thing.

“We just feel that this is too important for the NMMA and the boating industry. By Teleflex Marine and other supporting NMMA members contributing bridge funding, the membership can show their collective power at work,” said Douglass. “As suppliers to the marine industry, we all must show some level of support as an investment into our future.”

Teleflex Marine’s contribution to the $2 million Start Up Fund will be used to help pay for the creative development and production for the marketing campaign. The final marketing campaign will be introduced at a special All-Industry Meeting at the Miami International Boat Show, being held February 16 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

“We are receiving a very positive response to our call for support for the Grow Boating Initiative, and Teleflex Marine is taking a leadership position in helping to move the GBI
forward. We’re confident the industry will continue to contribute to the Start Up Fund, and that we will raise the $2 million by the February deadline,” said NMMA President Thom Dammrich.

The list of contributors to the GBI start up fund is updated daily on www.growboating.org.
