ABYC releases standards on CD-ROM

EDGEWATER, Md. – The American Boat & Yacht Council has released its 2004 50th Anniversary edition of the ABYC Standards & Technical Information Reports on CD-ROM, ABYC said in a recent release.

The online version, known as “Web-STIR” (Web access to the Standards & Technical Information Reports), is also available for purchase by members.

“Accessibility to our technical standards is one of our highest priorities,” said John Adey, ABYC technical director. “This is just another step ABYC is taking to provide the marine industry with the tools necessary to ensure quality product and workmanship.”

ABYC said Web-STIR is convenient because no action is required to install yearly updates.

ABYC has been developing, writing and updating the safety standards for boat building and repair in the United States for 50 years. It is actively involved with the International Organization for Standardization as well as certification programs for marine technicians.
