Power Squadrons honors MarineEast for donation

BRICK, N.J. – United States Power Squadrons has presented MarineEast with a Certificate of Appreciation for the marine manufacturer’s donation of 3,000 fire ports for use by power squadron vessel inspectors earlier this year, MarineEast said in a release today.

The fire ports were distributed to every power squadron throughout the United States. They allow boaters to safely inspect an engine compartment without opening it and insert a fire extinguisher’s nozzle through the port.

In a recent committee report, Luis Ojeda, vessel safety check committee chairman, stated that MarineEast’s donation enhances the ability of USPS vessel safety check examiners to better educate the public on the benefits and importance of recreational boating safety products. He estimated that examiners will educate 32,000 boaters during 2004.

The Certificate of Appreciation was presented to David and Barbara Thompson of MarineEast by local New Jersey power squadron members.
